Splashcards uses spaced repetition to predict when the most effective time to study each card will be. Want to study outside of the algorithm's schedule? No problem. Just toggle spaced repetition off.

Spaced repitition is an excellent learning strategy, especially for memory-intensive subjects like vocabulary, forein languages, and medical terminology.

Many learning experts have recommended using a spaced repitition strategy such as Khan Academy, College Info Geek, Brainscape, and Art of Memory.

What Is Spaced Repitition?
Spaced repetition is a scientifically proven learning technique designed to optimize retention and memory. Each flashcards will be reviewed at gradually increasing intervals based on your assessment of the difficulty of the card. Spaced repetition is enabled by default in each deck, but it can be disabled in deck settings. When spaced repetition mode is disabled, cards will be reviewed in a cycle without regard to whether the card is easy or difficult.

What is the difference between moving and copying a card?
Moving a card means the card will move to a different deck, along with all of the data associated with that card (the data that the algorithm uses to determine the next time the card is due). Copying a card simply creates a new card in the deck (or in another deck) with the same front and back, as if you had created a card from scratch.

Can I study offline?
It's complicated. If you want to study in airplane mode or when you are completely disconnected from internet and cell service, you will need to open the app while you still have service to load your cards and decks. You will be able to study those cards offline. Your data will not sync while you're offline, so if you study in airplane mode, and then close the application before reconnecting, then the changes you made (including new due dates associated with the last study session) will not be saved. If you leave the app open in the background (you can minimize the app without issue) then when your phone reconnects, your changes will be synced.
